Irena Latek artiste canadienne, née en Pologne et formée architecte, situe ses recherches à la jonction de l’architecture, des arts médiatiques numériques, du cinéma et du projet urbain. Professeure à l’École d’architecture de l’Université de Montréal, elle y dirige depuis 2001 le laboratoire de recherche-création medialabAU. Les projets qu’elle a réalisés seule et avec son équipe en vidéo ou au moyen d’interfaces interactives prennent la forme d’installations audiovisuelles questionnant les urbanités contemporaines. Irena Latek is Canadian artist born in Poland and trained architect in whose research intersect architecture, media arts, cinema and urbanism. Since 2001, Latek has been running the research-creation lab medialabAU at Université de Montréal’s School of Architecture, where she is a professor. Latek’s projects, both those realized individually and those created in collaboration with her team in video or with interactive interfaces, take the form of audiovisual installations which question contemporary urbanities. Her work has been shown in Canada, Spain, Germany and France. Projects of note include: Intervalles (Cinémathèque québécoise, Montréal, 2016), Flux (CEUdeM, Montréal, 2015), Trans-porters Ecotopia – Utopia (CEUdeM, Montréal, 2009), Desynchronized Public Spaces (SAT, Montréal, 2005), Soft Public Spaces, SAT, Montréal, 2003, and Galerie Ras, Barcelona, 2004).
